Glass Jars & Containers #AtoZChallenge

I'm a sucker for a glass container.
Big, small, clear, colored, smooth, patterned, love 'em all.

Found these lovelies at an estate sale years ago, decades in fact.

They migrate around the house as storage, props in photography, or decorations.

In the studio I have a large assortment of jars mostly used for water to clean brushes & sponges.
One of my latest fabric bins was made specifically to house the collection.

A shelf in my pantry is dedicated to glass.

Do you have any favorite eye candy you use for storage?

  1. Linda,

I like glass jars, too. My MIL gave me many of her old Mason jars over the years. I love to store foods in them for freshness. I think it's interesting that you used this for today's alphabet prompt. This will be my subject for my 'J' post next week. :) Normally, I don't blog on the weekend but DH had to work so I'm doing my usual blog routine. Have a GOOD weekend and happy A2Zing!

    2. Linda,

Good for you. I'm happy that I got all of my A2Z posts done before April. Today, I'm trying to get ahead on some May posts with DH at work. So far, I'm doing pretty good. See ya around next week!

    4. Linda,

Yeah but this is my 5th year doing it, so it only took me in my forth year to finally get the knack of getting it together enough to accomplish this task. It's not easy but you're doing okay. At least you're a head and that makes A2Zing so much easier, don't you agree? Have a good day!

  2. My storage containers are incredibly boring and stored in a cupboard. I do save every glass jar I buy food in to use again. Old peanut butter jars contain loose change. Your jars are beautiful.

    1. Hi Emily, So glad you are in the challenge! Just popped over to your blog. I LOVE it! Nice to see warmth when we are having more winter in April. I have loads of peanut butter jars I reuse as well. That purple bin is all :boring: glass jars for the most part, I just like using glass. Lots of brushes get washed in them.

    1. Color definitely makes them more interesting. I'm partial to the brown ones. Yup vases. I've put nothing but a leaf or 2 in jars for a centerpiece. Thanks for stopping & commenting!

  4. I collect pens... nothing particularly fancy, just pens that catch my eye (color, design, shape)... so I put some of my pens in quart size glass canning jars and they look so pretty stored on my shelf!

I'm also a sucker for cobalt blue glass. When I travel, I like to find a cobalt blue glass item that represents the area... for instance, I bought a cobalt glass gondola in Venice.

  5. Would love to see a picture of your pen collection. You can turn anything into a display in a glass jar in my mind. Nice to have an item you look for on trips to have mementos that help you remember.

  6. I love glass too :-) I bought a set of green drinking glasses a while back -- they're pretty, but I don't like to drink from them (can't see what I'm drinking).

    1. Green milk doesn't sound to appetizing. Use them for display!

  7. Over the years I've collected (and sold in yard sales) many glass bottles. Wish I had them now. I love them but with limited space, not collecting them anymore.

  8. Space is a consideration. I do recycle some of the more ordinary ones every now & then.

  9. I love glass bottles! In one house I had the little glass bottles arranged along the top of the kitchen cabinets all the way around the room - until our cat jumped up to the top of the cabinets and sauntered along, methodically swiping off selected glass bottles. Crash, tinkle tinkle... =(

    1. Darn those cats. We love 'em but they can be destructive little buggers.

  10. They’re also cast as heels, allegedly crafted due to the McMahon family’s belief that the far right cost Linda the election. A tag feud between these two seems a natural fit, with Darren Young cast as the good guy. 750ml Bottles

  11. For me, it's paper boxes. You know, the really decorative kind. I love the square edges, juxtaposed with fancy paper designs.

  12. I collected fancy and interesting glass vodka bottles for a time -- a Van Gogh one, a curved green glass one, a glass bottle shaped like a skull even -- but sadly space became an issue for us too and I dumped the lot in the recycle bin. Thankfully most of what I collect now is digital! :) Great post, stopped by on my #AtoZChallenge Road Trip!

  13. I don't have a favorite storage solution that's also eye candy. I tend to keep things in closets or cabinets, so I use clear containers. Years ago, I loved wicker baskets. I had dozens of them for many different storage purposes, but I got tired of trying to clean wicker. Stopping by on the #AtoZ Road Trip. Cheers!
