Keep Going

The Itinerant Printer said it well, & with style! 

There was lots that kept me going this winter. No trip to a warmer climate. 

Making sure THAT doesn't happen again. 

Lots of cross country skiing was a big focus. Our VASSA trail near by 

is just the ticket for us. Part of the larger TART system. Been skiing the 10K loop 

for the first time in over a decade.

 After some new metal parts and other issues fixed for both of us

 hubby & I feel stronger than we have in years. 

Don't sit still people! Get out there & MOVE!

My journal class at Crooked Tree Art Center in January was so much fun. 

One of my students has come to my home for a private lesson in canvas surface design. 

What she did with her journal since the class is amazing! 

 

I've been in production mode for a few reasons. 

One, to fill the long dark winter days. 

Two, I will be in the Peninsula Library Art Fair August 15th. 

I will keep you informed on that when time draws near. 

That's 9 different vessels in the works above. 

I just completed a month long class at NMC, our local community college.

with the wonderful Glenn Wolff. A local artist of renown.

 There were only 3 of us in the class so we had free rein of the entire print studio. 

Next up will be the details with lots of pictures of the fun we had. Some thoughts on diet, 

a trip to the Muskegon Museum of Art & more.

I'm not much for New Years Resolutions. I'm always trying to set goals and do new things and evolve. But this year feels a bit different. Maybe it's because the snow arrived with the new year. Getting out & skiing makes me feel new.

Amazing what can happen overnight. I got myself out there 3 days in a row. A little sore, but I started slow so it's not too bad. Hope to get out again tomorrow & we got some nice new snow last night.  

This is what my local park where I walk looked like 5 days ago.

 

With the increased daylight and my new energy from being out doors I've gotten myself into the studio more. Have wanted to play around with collagraphs for awhile. Got out the cardboard and began.  Also a little calligraphy practice, like the splat of gouache in the middle? That's what journals are for!

 Tried several different papers. The first run I smeared acrylic on the collagraphs to see what I'd get and decide where the three images should land. These will be for my January ATC swap. Then I moved on to the printers ink for the full 3 step printing. I'll post the progress tomorrow.

 Enjoyed playing with more designs and got them in my journal for future use.

I'm curious to hear what New year's resolutions or changes you are contemplating and what art you are doing. 

Winter Wonderland

There is a township park just outside my door and down a hill. It's interesting that whenever you get out in nature on a holiday the people you run across are more engaging than on other days of the year.
One young man was on his telemarking skis. He seemed to be one with them as he whisked up and down the narrow trails on the hills.One of our favorite things do do is go cross country skiing on Christmas day when there is enough snow.  From the looks of it that will be possible this year.

My husband and I were solo this year with 2 grown sons being at other venues for Thanksgiving. We did a 12 lb turkey & fixins. This may be the year I break down and get a new hand mixer....

It's now on my Christmas list.
