Hang On!

 In my home & in the studio it's all about storage and visibility. This earring display lives in the bathroom on the wall. It's a riff on a jewelry case I saw on a DIY TV show years ago. Hardware cloth & an inexpensive frame from Kohl's. It's been with me for over a decade & I still love it.


 My penchant for peg board has been mentioned before. Things I use all the time in easy reach.

I have an order in with my handy husband to make me a pegboard display piece 

with hinges for upcoming art shows. Pictures to follow when completed.

When we redid an old dresser it freed up two long handles.  Hubby was able to marry old drawer pulls with the modern ones to mount these on the walls.

  

 

 Loads of room to hang all those fabric pods I made that hold "stuff".

Short & sweet today. It's summer & it's time for my morning walk in the park

 outside my door with neighbor. 

Flat File in the studio A to Z Challenge

Martha Stewart was all over this great piece of furniture for an art studio. Home Depot sells them. Some assembly was required, about 8 hours of both my husband & I working on it. Well worth the effort.

F is for Flat File

My work area that is all my own is fantastic.  Storage that works for the type of art you do helps. I'm an organizing freak. It's what I do. 

 Full extension drawers for all the paper I have is so nice. Some sheets are large.

 This makes getting at them much easier.

 You can find old flat files from libraries & businesses on the internet. This beauty is mine & I love it.

Knolling

 

I came across this funny word awhile back and it grabbed my attention. Most likely because I am a chronically organized person. I was delighted to discover there was a word reserved just for arranging things in an orderly fashion.

knoll

The process of arranging like objects in parallel or 90 degree angles as a method of organization.

 I readily admit I've been a knoller my whole life. I suspect it's genetic. I don't function well with visual clutter and am compelled to tidy up. How about you? Home Improvement

Happy new year everyone!  I am not in the habit of making new year resolutions as I try to switch things up as needed all the time. Having said that I am pledging to make better use of my blog and post more often, goal twice a week.  So I urge you to sign up for updates with the promise that you won't be inundated with emails. I have also started some new boards on Pinterest, the one with my art has a link to the blog which I hope will create more traffic. Another ploy to make sure I crate & post more.

The past 9 months have been full of remodeling for us and I now have a gorgeous new (improved, not new really) space.

Carpet gave way to Vinyl flooring, A half wall was constructed which gave lots of room for cubbies and a new flat file which I LOVE!

All this now gives me no excuse for getting into this marvelous new space more frequently.

Did lots of second hand pieces as well. The most fun was two of these lamps. Before & After (&during) below.

Playing with glaze & color to antique the metal parts was fun!
