I first ran across them in Improvised Life a blog I absolutely love for it's diversity
and thought provoking tid bits.
They are on my list of "art suplies" I would like. In the meantime there is a website where you can randomly pull up a virtual card to get you thinking.
Did you take a look? Did it make you think?
I got 'discard an axiom'. I've already gotten rid of most of what I don't need in my life, LOL. I had a deck of cards similar to this once, given to me as a gift. I discarded them after a few years.
ReplyDeleteI just noticed you are from Northern Michigan. Last year for A to Z I did a bonus part with day trips in Michigan. Maybe your area was mentioned.
DeleteEmphasize differences. It did make me think because as I get ready to start a new book, I always try to do something a little different. Find me here. LINK
ReplyDeleteGlad you got a bit of a nudge from this. Thanks fo checking it out!
DeleteComing up with new angles is the deep work of creativity, no matter what medium you work in.
ReplyDeleteMy A to Z series sounds like it's in a similar vein to Eno's cards--prompts to help writers start stories, stretch creatively, and get out of a rut or slump.

Love the graphic on your "evocative prompts". Lots of good inspiration out there.
DeleteI've heard of similar cards for writers, to get one thinking in a different way. Pretty neat. :)

I got "Emphasize the flaws"... interesting because I posted a comment on another blog about how movie and novel characters have flaws and we love them... yet we hide our own flaws from others, thinking they make us less lovable.

Perfect! Fits in with wabisabi & Cohen's quote about the cracks are how the light gets in. I'm still rooting for Toast for "T" in your blog :)
DeleteI got "fewer notes" and then "emphasize differences" so I'm going with the second and thinking of my new border garden design! Rather like this idea - thanks for sharing :)
