We love blueberries. How fortunate we have a you pick establishment up the road. Last summer I picked 4 times. 18 Lbs of "blubes" put in the freezer.
Had to try a water color of one berry in my journal.
Anything that is tasty, especially a new recipe, sparks joy for me. Found this yumm smoothie recipe in Bon Appetite magazine. Oh my, is it good!
If you give it a try let me know what you think!
We are huge blueberry fans in my house. My grandmother was the expert picker and I grew up with bags of frozen blueberries always in our freezer. They are the best! Your water color picture came out beautiful! Weekends In Maine
ReplyDeleteThanks! I love my chest freezer.

I only abstract watercolor. Can't seem to figure out detail enough to do something realistic. You're blueberry is amazing! Teach me!
ReplyDeleteNot sure I could duplicate it! Once in awhile I have a good day with water color, lots of times not so much.
DeleteYour watercolor blueberry is amazing! I wanted to pick it off my computer screen and pop it in my mouth.

Wow...thanks! It was a good day. My attemps at realistic water color are very mixed.
DeleteYou got the color just right on the blueberry. I love them in muffins.
ReplyDeleteThanks. It was a fluke, I don't do enough water color to be consistent.
DeleteI love them too! I'm fortunate to live in a good blueberry growing climate. I just bought another bush last week. "Sunshine Blue." My favorites to grow are Legacy and Draper.
ReplyDeleteYour painting is very nice! Have you tried painting with the blueberry's juices itself? Not quite the same color, but very vivid. I know if I stir them into my muffins too much the entire batter is purple! It's best to stir them in frozen.
I never would have thought of tahini with blueberries, or even tahini in a smoothy! I have some in the 'fridge.
I have not tried painting with the juice but should give it a try. I'm envious of you having your own bushes. I love the color of my baked oatmeal when I stir it up to get the purple juice to show up.
DeleteI figured out a delicious Blueberry Jam recipe. Frozen berries work well for it! http://gluttonamb.blogspot.com/2017/06/blueberry-marmalade.html
ReplyDeleteI checked out your recipe, yum! Will have to try that. The cardamom is a great addition to the usual stuff.
DeleteOh, beautiful water color blueberry! I love them, so tasty, thanks for the recipe!

Blueberries are yum. Beautiful colour and beautiful fruit. How lucky you are to be able to pick your own! They are so expensive here (Australia).
